Who is the world's best DJ of 2014?

Last year, the first edition of the Amsterdam Music Festival attracted around 25,000 visitors to the RAI exhibition centre who danced all night to Armin van Buuren, Alesso and Hardwell. The second edition will be even bigger: 40,000 people will dance the night away to Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, Dash Berlin and David Guetta, plus the superstar DJs listed above. On Saturday 18 October the Amsterdam ArenA will transform into the largest dance floor in the city.

Laser shows, smoke machines and fireworks

A large number of the DJs that perform at the Amsterdam Music Festival made a name for themselves with ALDA Events, known for organizing parties such as A State of Trance (which is now held in 9 countries), I AM Hardwell (19 countries) and Armin Only (22 countries). ID&T is known for Thunderdome, Mysteryland and Tomorrowland, but especially for Sensation, which is now organized in 21 countries. The Amsterdam home base of Sensation also serves as the AMF venue: the Amsterdam ArenA. The 2 Dutch party giants will treat tens of thousands of visitors to a spectacular music show with laser shows, smoke machines and fireworks. In addition to hosting the 2011, 2012 and 2013 top DJs in the world – David Guetta, Armin van Buuren and Hardwell – other serious contenders for this title will also make an appearance.

New contenders

Belgian brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike were ranked 6th in last year’s DJ Mag Top 100. Just below that, at number 10, is Dash Berlin, the Dutch trio that broke through in 2007 with the energetic trance track Till The Sky Falls Down. Also from the Netherlands is hardstyle-dj Wildstylez, who scored an international hit with Year of Summer. Another Dutch duo is W&W who create a unique sound with influences from trance, electro and progressive house. The youngest member is Martin Garrix. With his hit Animals he was the youngest Dutchman to ever score a number 1 hit in the UK and in the US his song went platinum. The 18-year-old from Amstelveen is also called 'the Justin Bieber of dance', but this young newcomer is already hitting the international circuit, flying from Miami via Shanghai to Ibiza. At AMF in Amsterdam he will be sharing the stage with the world’s very best DJs.
